Hi everyone,

I would like to know how can I fix the duration of one activity ? At the creation of this one, someone is affected to this activity. I would like to set the requested duration and be warned if this person work more than it was scheduled.

If I set the requested duration at 3 days. If the person puts into the real work allocation 4 days, today, I do not have this information.

The task is planned as soon as possible.

The only way I find to be alerted is to define a end validated date but I do not want to do like this because if I want floating activities. I do not succeed in with the fix duration. Is there something I miss ?

You mismatch duration and work.

That's not the same.
If you set duration, you won't have any alert on work.
Moreover, alerts are base on validated or assigned values, not requested ones.

What you need is to set assigned work and define an indicateor on 'planned work compraed to assigned work'.
Just when the resource updates left work to have planned work > assigne work, you'll be alerted.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.

I'm not sure it is sufficient. With your idea, I will be alerted if the person work more but I will not be alerted if the person does not work. How can I do this ?

That's why I want to be alerted for the global duration of the task.

I resource does not work on the task, then duration may not be changed : the resource will start later, but duration may not be changed.
The only sure value that will de changed is the planned end date (changed on planning calculation).
So you can use the corresponding indicator (planned end date compared to validated end date)
