I have tasks:

so, parent task is "in progress" but internal task is "closed".

and now I want to make "parent" task to be closed also... so try to change status of it...

I have:

#1061 is exactly internal activity you see on picture.

So, I cannot close parent activity.

What can we do with this problem ?

Check activity on Activity screen : maybe status is "closed" but "idle" checkbox is not checked.

I do not have "idle" check box but seems I found reason of the problem.

My "parent" activity is type "Development" but "internal" activity is type "Redaction" - in this case there is no possibility to CLOSE parent activity (when internal activity is CLOSED).

When I change type of internal activity to "Development" type all is working fine.
When I change type of parent activity to "Redaction" type I also can CLOSE parent activity.

I do not think exactly types I listed are clue of the problem but rather settings related to this types.

I noticed also, working of checkbox "Show closed items" on planing view is related to the types of acitivties... In my cases closed activities of type "Redaction" cannot be hide by checkbox "Show closed items".

Do you have idea about settings causing this result ?

Weird.
Did you play with customization plugin to hide it ?

My "parent" activity is type "Development" but "internal" activity is type "Redaction" - in this case there is no possibility to CLOSE parent activity (when internal activity is CLOSED).

Check Type constraints.
Mayby status could not be changed automatically because some constraint was not done (mandatory description, not left work, ...)

I noticed also, working of checkbox "Show closed items" on planing view is related to the types of acitivties... In my cases closed activities of type "Redaction" cannot be hide by checkbox "Show closed items".

This filter does not have any effect depending on type

Try and display "idle" checkbox to try and understand what happens to you

Is there a way to check this without access to code/settings of plugin ?

Open plugin, screen.
If on top left an option is proposed to "reset screen to standard disposition", then you customized it.
