Planned vs Duration

Planned vs Duration was created by chrisdr2
Hello,

I've installed ProjecQtOr as localhost on a Windows 10 system (version 7.4.3) for evaluation and have a query about project planning.

The first project plan is complete, but I have some issues with modifying it. The plan has a particular task with a planned duration of 1 day. I wish to use another resource and split the task into 4 subtasks, 0.25d assigned to a resource. This worked, but the project end date jumped by three days.

Checking each subtask on the plan view I note each shows planned=0.25d, duration=1d

How do I make duration=planned?

FYI: planning mode=asap.

Thanks

Christopher

Duration is always in full days (not in hours).
I guess you have this behavior because you set dependencies between tasks.
This is default behavior, witrh strict dependencies : with end-start dependency, next will start the day after the end of initial
You can change this behavior on Global Pramleters, to change "strict dependencies" to NO

Dear babynus

Thanks for the quick reply

Yes, I am using dependencies between tasks. The suggested parameter change fixed the issue. We were using ProjectLibre, but need something with more enterprise functionality.

With this addressed, looks like ProjeQtOr fits the bill very well. At some point I'll want to get it working on our web host - are there any tutorials/documentation for doing this? I assume that its a simple matter of installing on the web host and exporting/importing the mysql database from the localhost test machine?

Thanks

Christopher

No

Yes
It is simplke as long as you use same DB on source and target.
Migration from MySql to Postgres (or reverse) is moire complicated.
