Check the screen "Customer".
In the last version, the field "Customer name" was mandatory.

In version 5.3, Not.

Issue recorded as Ticket #2031 and fixed.
Fix is to replace line 70 in /model/Client.php from
private static $_fieldsAttributes=array();
to
private static $_fieldsAttributes=array('name'=>'required', 'idClientType'=>'required');
