Why is EasyPHP not recomended for production environment

Just because this is a recommandation that used to be provided by EasyPHP...
It was develpped as de Develpmement Platform, so maybe administration should not be its best.
Now things can have changes, as EasyPHP now exists as Webserver version...

What are the alternatives to zend server ? Are there free ones ?

Many exist, and most are free : WAMP Server,; XAMPP, IIS with PHP and extra MySql.
Under Linux, default PHP + MySql works fine.
