The idea is interesting but I'd like to know the exact need first.
To my point of view, attached documents are just pieces linked to a specific item.
I don't see the interest to display all these files on Project summary.
For instance, there is no interest to show the print screen about a bug report on Project summary.
If attachements are to be show as Project pieces, then they are certainly Project Documents, and should be managed as Documents.
Now what is missing is the possibility to link a Document to an item (for instance link the specification to an evolutive activity) : it's a planned evolution coming soon.
In fact, i want to be able to see differents documents whereever they are in the project.
For exemple, i have a milestone as COPIL for a project and i want to link the verbal account to activity.
But, when i look at the project, it's nice for me to see directly all the documents, like this verbal account, even if i don't know which activity to open for that.
I expect my english is good enought for you to understand.
So the V2.2 will help you : instead of attaching a file to activity or milestone, you will link a document.
Then documents will be reachable through documents list, with search facility and filter possibility.
In fact, after using document management, I think it will be nice to get the best of two worlds...
Now, you can use document to manage all document for project and link a document to item to enhance item following.
But, sometime, it is great to be able to link document to item (like debriefing for a meeting), and, in the same time, to be able to see that document in project's documents list...
So, prehaps we just need a flag in document attachement, saying "this document, attached to the current item, must be visible in project's documents list" or something like that...
