a team member is assigned to a sub-project, but not to the “parent” project. Is it normal that he does not see the project for which he is assigned?

HELLO,

Yes he is not allocated automaticaly on parent project. you have to do it . On the other way from parent to sub project is automaticaly.

It's not possible to just see the sub project, without the parent project ?

The behavior is like expected.
If you have project P1, with sub-project P1.1, you can allocate user/resource to P1.1 only.
Then user sees items of P1.1 only, as if P1 does not exist.

Pleas post screenshots of your settings (project structure, allocation)
