How is calculated the assigned cost for a resource?

When you define a resource you can define an associate daily cost for several periods.
For instance I can define for a resource a daily cost of 200 euros for period one and after 250 euros for period two and so on…
When you define an activity you give a total planned days for a resource for instance 100 days but you don’t give the distribution of these days regard to the periods.
So how is calculated the assigned cost for this resource ? (200+250)/2 x 100 days ?
If yes this calculation is not exact if there is for instance 10 days for period one and 90 days for period two.
Thank by advance for any precisions
Eric

The planned cost is calculated with the current daily cost (The last).
Planned cost is an estimate cost.

The real cost is calculated with the daily cost defined for the period.

The real cost is an exact cost.

Ok thank you for the reply.
Should it be possible to have modification in order that planned cost be calculated with real cost by month and not the last entered cost (as it is done with real cost) ? That would allow to have a more consistence between real and planned cost
Thank you

Request would be very complex with very little interest.
If you change cost for resource, in most cases you will enter information after the period has started : this is real life, you really don't now in advance how prices will upgrade. If priod will start long in the future, the just wait a bit before entering new cost.
Difference between old and new should not be that much and not for a long period.
So yes, planned cost will be wrong, but it is just planned : entering more precision on cost period won't make it very less wrong, as "in real life" reassement of work will sure lead to cost change.
