Is there a tutorial video for Projeqtor? I have checked youtube and couldn't find anything on how to set it up after installation. I think it's a great programme but it is so comprehensive such that it is confusing for beginners. If there is a video, I would appreciate the link

Hello and welcome,

Indeed, Projeqtor is an open source software that covers the entire scope of project management with all its elements linked.

There is no video for the moment, a user guide is provided. You can press F1 in connection with the opened page on your application to get the informations you need or use the forum after having reading it ;-)

You might want to consider to do an introductory series of Youtube videos after all. While I can understand the "RTFM - or buy our trainings" aspect of things, it is very 80's. From my point of view users these days expect a certain ease of use. An introductory video showing how to set up and conduct a simple project will serve to attract users to ProjeQtOr rather than have them run away to look at another software that does use videos as a teaching tool.

It certanly is strange not to be able to learn anything about ProjeQtOr on Youtube. My knee-jerk reaction is always to discard the software as unprofessional, when I notice such an omission.

It's not 80's, it's Open Source business model.
80's model was : pay, then we'll discuss and explain if it works (remind about Oracle, SUN and other leaders way to do)

Sure, and we've planned to do such videos.
It will take some time as we are mostly concentrated on improving the tool to have it reliable and efficient.
We don't know yet the full business model for these videos, and first "introduction" one may be available for free...

You're right, and we'll think about it.
All is question of priorities ;)

Yeah, I can absolutely agree on that (re: priorities) - making a good tutorial video is not as trivial as one might think.

I am sure you'll get around to it eventually.

It's annoying when people want information served up to them on a silver spoon via YouTube - why not do some hard work and really learn what you're working with so you can do the job properly instead of a half-assed effort because you only picked up the key points from a video (which could never cover everything a document/manual could).

Besides, you can't make notes on a video like you can a document and i frequently tell the companies we deal with that videos are of no use to us - most are really good and quickly whip out some PDFs
When you start working with the big companies in IT you'll soon learn that new product information doesn't come in the form of a YouTube vid, it comes in a 500 page PDF and they expect you to read the lot before asking for any help from them.

I grew up with UNIX/NetWare but have been Windows-only for the last 15 years so hacking this together in CentOS and Apache was a steep learning curve but i got there in the end (after 14 hours of threatening to do horrible things to my PC) ;)
The documentation/information is out there to solve almost any problem like this... IF YOU READ IT

To Admin:
Please do make some introductory vids - maybe it will bring in more potential users like Areuter, they'll see what a great product it is, then want to experiment more with it and have to learn how the thing actually works - so they learn a bit of PHP and JS, etc... and bingo another good tech has been born!
