Is there a way to calculate the assigned (h) based on the rate of a resource and the planned days in the activity?
Yes and no...
R#1 is assigned to Activity1 for 80%
It does not mean R#1 will work 80% of the task nor that it will work 80£ of its time during all task duration. It means it cannot work more than 0,8 days per day on this task.
Activity1 has 20 planned days, the field assigned (h) is not filled automatically
I guess the 20 planned days is duration.
You should not mismatch duration and work.
Duration is how long it will take.
Work is effort needed.
You can execute 2 work days in 20 days duration, or 40 work days in 20 days duration (with 2 resources working full time)
Now I have to calculate manually the assigned hours for each resource, it would be nice if this was pre-calculated.
Yes, you MUST estimate work for every resource.
Tool cannot GUESS work from duration.This is a simplistic point of view not taking into account that resource may be booked on other project for same period.
Tool will calculate duration from work, depending on resource availability.
