Ressource fonction Date

There is a strange issue in the way we use fonction. We can't fill the date field start and end.

The only way is to create the same fonction on the ressource, but how do you do if an "developper" become the "lead developper" ?
The two fonction can exist in the same time but project line will appear twice.

My reply proposition is in the picture.

In ProjeQtOr, you can define a cost for several "roles" (functions).
By default a cost for a function has no date : it is forever valid.
When you enter new cost for existing function, it is concidered as increase of cost (possibly increase of salary) and start date is mandatory for new cost. Old cost will automatically gain end date = (new cost start date) - 1.
If resource "developper" becomes a "lead developper" then onul default cost should change.
If he is not supposed to work as "developer" any more then you should change all his assignment roles and delete corresponding cost.

We can't delete all of his assignment roles because he got input on his role for the related activity
This suggests another problem, we want to keep historic for billing.

I don't understand why those date are unavailable and the only way to fill it, is to increase the cost of function.
I think that the function could be end just for one ressource and one cost, without touching historic of the ressource.

Example :

My ressource called Henri has 2 functions :
- Manager (For the "A" activity)
- Developper (For the "C" activity)

Another ressource called David has 1 function :
- Developper (For the "C" activity)

Henri has to leave the "C" activity because he become the Marketing Director of the A activity and he does'nt have enough time to fulfill both functions.

How do you do this on projeqtor ?

If we could just write an end date for Henri, he won't see anymore the "C" activity in hist input and we should keep all of his historic at the right cost. (this is very important for our report)

In the other hand Henri got an upgrade of his function for the "A" activity, we dont want to see duplicate rows on his input for this activity. Fill the end date could just fix this.

Sorry for my bad english, it's not simple to explain what i thhink about.

Thanks for reading me.

That's true : you can't delete a value used.

I don't understand why those date are unavailable and the only way to fill it, is to increase the cost of function.

IT is because the dates are designed to increase the cost of function, not to define a validity period of the function.

I think that the function could be end just for one ressource and one cost, without touching historic of the ressource.

This notion does not exist in function management.

My ressource called Henri has 2 functions :
- Manager (For the "A" activity)
- Developper (For the "C" activity)
Another ressource called David has 1 function :
- Developper (For the "C" activity)
Henri has to leave the "C" activity because he become the Marketing Director of the A activity and he does'nt have enough time to fulfill both functions.

Set Henri's left work on "C" to zero.
If he has spent no real work on "C", you can just delete assignment.

If we could just write an end date for Henri, he won't see anymore the "C" activity in hist input and we should keep all of his historic at the right cost. (this is very important for our report)

THere is no way to "hide" the activity in the real work allocation list, but resource will see he has no left work, and planning will not book time for him on this task.

In the other hand Henri got an upgrade of his function for the "A" activity, we dont want to see duplicate rows on his input for this activity. Fill the end date could just fix this.

No, because Assignment holds the function. So if Henri gets a new function on the activity, he should have another assignment. I don't know how it could work different. Add a function end date in resource cost will not change the function in assignment.

Keep in mind that function cost is designed to have possibility to charge different costs of resource depending on function.
"I have a resource that I can hire as a developer for 200€/day, or as an expert for 400€/day).
In is not designed to build a HR module to keep history of resource roles.
