Hello
I want to do something really simple : I would like to define a project that will start on a given day (lets say july 1st 2022) and end on another given day (lets say September 1st 2022)
NO MATTER WHAT ressources are affected to the project / activity and no matter the work assigned to each ressource : I always want this project to start on july 1st and end september 1st
I tried every possible way (using the planning modes) I could think of but everytime I plan the project the planned begin and end dates are not what I want
NO MATTER WHAT ressources are affected to the project / activity and no matter the work assigned to each ressource : I always want this project to start on july 1st and end september 1st
This won't be easy as ProjeQtOr manager capacity planning without overloading resources, and will then move end date of project if resources haven't the capacity to produce what you expect.
You can avoid this using "overbooking" planning capacity : you must give right through specific access to be able to calculate planning with overbooking. But this may not be enough as planning will always adapt to activities, so if one activity in longer than projets, what you expect won't be possible.
I already tried to use the "overbooking" possibility : it doesn't change anything
It is too bad because it is a very simple thing but very useful : in real life this happens often. For me not being able to do this will be a real problem and it is too bad because projeqtor is really a good tool
is there any way this can be implemented in the product as an improvment ? shall I enter a post in the improvment part of this forum ?
This would be a major improvment.
We won't focus on this on our own, unless this ios sponsored, as we concider it's a bad way to do : the best way to be late as the tool will not tell you you're late.
Projeqtor builds the capacity planning that tells you when you will end with the resource you have, evne it the result does not please you, it is the reality. So you should act to maintaint your project in the timeframe, and not keep the timeframe and clode your eyes on what really happens on the project.
