I have a main project to which I have assigned multiple subprojects. I have set people (resources) into Teams and discovered a limitation for what I want to do. At this point because there are only 5 top administrators involved in this main project and because of the nature of the scope of the project, there will be some overlap of persons in the teams for the subprojects. Same persons can be involved with other team combinations as needed to fulfill a subproject concern. I need to be able to assign one person to as many teams as needed. I know this isn't normal, but that is the nature of this overall project and the subdivisions therein.

I may have set this up incorrectly from an academic viewpoint and if so please help in this respect as well.

What is possible for me to do here?

You can allocate same resource to as many projects as you want.
There is no restriction.

Take care that there is difference between "Team" and "Project team"

Team is an organizationnal split of resources, for instance to restrict visibility of resource to same team so that manager does not lists hundreds of resources when allocating members of his team to projects.
A resource can belong to one single team only.

Project team is build (automatically) from all resources allocated to the project. This gives acces to resources so that they can see project's data.
A resource can belong to as many Project teams as you wish.
