Good afternoon,

I performed new tests on you very good tool and I would like to share with you my results.

1- Regarding issues raised.
Very few issues raised finally. The only point is about Milestone.
I don't know why but when I create a milestone in the planning view, the Milestone is set in the date when I created the Milestone and not the planned date.
But if I create the milestone in the milestone view, It is working correctly.
One of my college tested in another server and it is working correctly whatever the view... So, I don't know.

So congratulation for this level of quality :)

2- Regarding the global tool, I would like to share with you some generic points which can be interesting to add for your tool. Just one point, I am not an expert so maybe these points already exist in the current version :) :

a- It can be interesting to differentiate price sold to the customer and real cost of the resource for the company. I checked "activities Prices" object but there is no link with "Activities" object so from my point of view there is a risk of error between "activities" and "prices activities".
b- There is no notion of cashflow just because the link between project and bills is not enough strong. It can be interesting to compare "on the fly" the price engaged by the company Vs all the payments done by the customer.
c- There is no notion of profitability to check where am I in the project in term of cost. (Price sold to the customer Vs Cost). This information can be calculated based on the "assigned" attribute AND another based on "real" to have a status "on the fly"
d-Margin information are very useful but it is only linked to "assigned" and "validated" attributes. It can be interesting to have the same thing based on "real" and "assigned" or "validated"

I hope it is clear enough.
It is maybe too specific for your tool so in that case, don't take into account these points.
It is just my little involvement on this great tool :)

Thanks a lot.

See ya!

a- It can be interesting to differentiate price sold to the customer and real cost of the resource for the company. I checked "activities Prices" object but there is no link with "Activities" object so from my point of view there is a risk of error between "activities" and "prices activities".

Global sold price is "validated cost". But it' not detail for each resource.
The "activity price" is a way to define sold prive per project and per activity type. It is not directly liked to activity but to bill (invoice).
For these kind of bills (on produced work) when you generate the bill you define the resource, the activity and the period (start and end date). The tool serches for all real work for the resource on the period and on the activities of the type defined fro the activity price, and multiplicates by activity price to get billed amount.

b- There is no notion of cashflow just because the link between project and bills is not enough strong. It can be interesting to compare "on the fly" the price engaged by the company Vs all the payments done by the customer.

You're right, there is no, mostly because ProjeQtOr is not an ERP, just a project management tool...

c- There is no notion of profitability to check where am I in the project in term of cost. (Price sold to the customer Vs Cost). This information can be calculated based on the "assigned" attribute AND another based on "real" to have a status "on the fly"

Yes there is : sold = validated cost. You're righ, some "profitability" could be calculated on cost, like margin on work (Ticket #1934 recorded).

d-Margin information are very useful but it is only linked to "assigned" and "validated" attributes. It can be interesting to have the same thing based on "real" and "assigned" or "validated"

Margin is base on Reassed (= real + left) compared to Validated work. It is the global margin.
You're right, there may be other margins :
Assigned compared to Validated = commercial margin.
Reassessed compared to Assigned = operational margin.
Today, only global is displayed to avoid too many fields in the "heavy" screen...

Thanks a lot for your reactivity and your feedbacks.

I am sorry I tried to test with this way but I am blocked.
What do you mean by "generate the bill"? just create the bill? or a report? (I have an error when i create the report bills) because I didn't find a specific way to add resource & activity :(
I will check a new time in your documentation.

b- There is no notion of cashflow just because the link between project and bills is not enough strong. It can be interesting to compare "on the fly" the price engaged by the company Vs all the payments done by the customer.

OK I understand. In this case, is it possible to launchthe calcul of Margin if the "Validated" attributes (day/cost) is set to 0 ? Currently it is not calculated if th e validated attributes are empty or set to 0.

c- There is no notion of profitability to check where am I in the project in term of cost. (Price sold to the customer Vs Cost). This information can be calculated based on the "assigned" attribute AND another based on "real" to have a status "on the fly"

Ok I understand, I agree with your conclusion.

During my new tests, I raised new Evolution/issues:
1- When you close an activity, you have to fill result attribute. It is very useful but is it possible to add hyperlink in the field?
2- Regarding Project Progress attribute. The pourcentage is correct but it does not take into account activities done in advance.
For example: I assigned 5 days for an activity and I consumed 2,5 days. --> Project progress = 50%
Finally I consumed 0,5 days more to finish my activity, so I closed it. The project progress= 60% but it is wrong the project progress should be 100% because I finished my job.

Thanks!

What do you mean by "generate the bill"?

I mean "add bill lines".
If billing type is the good one, you'll be able to select activity price, resource and period.

In this case, is it possible to launchthe calcul of Margin if the "Validated" attributes (day/cost) is set to 0 ? Currently it is not calculated if th e validated attributes are empty or set to 0.

As of today, margin is comparison from "reassessed work" oand "validated work". If no validated work is defined, there is nothing to compare and margin cannot be defined.

1- When you close an activity, you have to fill result attribute.

it is not always mandatory. All depends on constraints defined on the activity type.

It is very useful but is it possible to add hyperlink in the field?

Yes. In text fields you can add hyperlink (there in a specific editor button). You can also add link as an attachment.

If you finished the work, then you should set left work = 0.
Then progress is 100%

Hello,

What do you mean by "generate the bill"?
I mean "add bill lines".
If billing type is the good one, you'll be able to select activity price, resource and period.

OK, I tried to create a Term with amount target date and linked activity.
Based on that I created a Bill and I tried to add a bill line but unfortunately I am not able to select a Term...
Is there a way to see the created Term?

In this case, is it possible to launchthe calcul of Margin if the "Validated" attributes (day/cost) is set to 0 ? Currently it is not calculated if th e validated attributes are empty or set to 0.
As of today, margin is comparison from "reassessed work" oand "validated work". If no validated work is defined, there is nothing to compare and margin cannot be defined.

It can be useful for the case where nothing is sold to the customer because the agreement take time. But in parallel, the job already started because we need to keep the planning as it is. That is why it can be interesting to keep the calcul if validated attribute is set to "0" (work/cost). I will be able to identify the cost of the project per month.

For the others points, I understood and that is fine.

I finally come back to another point quite blocking for me.
I understood that "validated" will handle the global price information for the project (or per activity if needed).
In the other side, we have the real/left/reassessed which is calculated per workload assigned to the resource and cost per resource.
It means, I will be able to report:
- My milestones with associated bills linked to the global project (or per activitiy)
- My forecasted cost per month which is very useful

Do you confirm that bill objects will allow me to calculate in the reports the forecasted revenue per month?
Basically, I need each month to calculate the number of man days per month multiplied by the different price per resource. (Because in my fixed price project, I sometimes have to invoice every month).
But unfortunately, I don't have this information because we only manage the price sold per activity (or global project).

Thanks

Is there a way to see the created Term?

Term date must be passed.
But it's more easy to select billing mode as manual...
Billing mode is defined on project type.

Do you confirm that bill objects will allow me to calculate in the reports the forecasted revenue per month?

Y7es and no.
All depends on billing mode.

Basically, I need each month to calculate the number of man days per month multiplied by the different price per resource. (Because in my fixed price project, I sometimes have to invoice every month).

This requires billing mode "on produced work".
Don't mismatch cost defined on resource : it is the cost for you.
And activity price : it is the cost you charge your customer.
Define activity price : for Project / Activity type, you define a price.
Bill : you add line selecting Activity price, Resource, Period (start-end days) : ProjeQtOr retreived days worked by resource during the period on activities of given type and multiplicates by activity price.
You have to define one billing line per resource (and per type)
