Screen customization plugin - upgrade version

I think this question might have been asked already, sorry if I missed it.

Is there a recommended way to perform a Projeqtor version upgrade when using the Screen Customization plugin ? 
The goal is to :
- upgrade Projeqtor version (for example from v9.4 to v9.5)
- keep all customizations already made in the plugin

Typically I perform the following steps :
1. Unzip the latest Projeqtor source code into a new directory (e.g. /var/www/projeqtorV9.5.0/ ), and use that directory as the new reference for the application.
2. Connect to the interface with ADM account => the application launches the DB upgrade scripts
3. Re-install the Screen Customization plugin on the new version

Is there anything special to add either in the database or the source code folder ?

One extra related question actually : I wanted to test some screen customizations in test server, before implementing it in production.
Is it possible also to copy the modifications from test instance to production instance ? 

No problem if it has to be done manually by a system admin, since this is a technical task anyway.
