Hello,

Is it possible to set up a field with the custom screen plugin so that I get a list based on the value of another field on the screen?

an equivalent of : select from where

Thank you

Glt

Hello

you can create value lists with the plugin. I invite you to read the manual of the latter available via the store to check that it corresponds to your needs

Good morning,

thanks for the answer

I have read the custom lists in the manual but it does not meet my request.

I want to condition the display of a list to a value that is in another field of the screen.

Regards

glt

Hello,

You cannot use one-to-many links in custom lists.
This would be a very interesting feature to develop for screen customisation, as it is often useful to restrict one list value from another.
At this stage, I use a workaround: the "parent" list is prefixed by a number (e.g. 1-one, 2- two, etc.) and the "child" list by a complement (e.g. 1.1-one of one 1.2 - two of one, 2.1 one of two, etc.).
This works, but does not allow you to limit the contents of the child list and makes the display a little cumbersome (unfolding the child list potentially takes up a lot of space).

Best regards,

Hello and Thank you jmmbb,

Your proposal can indeed allow in certain sitiuations to circumvent the absence of a "one to many" solution.

In my case I don’t think it will be manageable.

How do I submit this evolution request as a suggestion for improvement?

Best regards

If what you need are dependant lists, no it does not exist in Screen Customisation plugin, and it is not in the roadmap of the plugin.
It could be an improvement of the plugin but would require to change structure of Lists management in the plugin.
The major, being possibility to defined the dependency in classes.

For instance, you create custom List Country. OK.
Then you create List Town, and need to specify that Town depends on Country.
This way, when you defined an item of List Town, you have to specify its Country.
Finaly, we would have to change general framework so that it can dynamically update list of field idTown when value is changed in list for field idCountry (auto detecting the dependency).

I'll record this in the roadmap, but sure it will be with low priority.
If you really need it, maybe you can consider sponsoring it developement (contact us if this interest you)
