How to know what happened to my first post?

I have created a post. It seemed to be accepted since reposting bounced back as duplicate. But it does not show in my status page, nor does it seem to be visible.
How to determine whether it's been landed in the bit bucket or not?

Your first post must be validated by a moderator to be published

Thank you.

Just a little background explaining this post: I have registered, then posted. The post was accepted but I was not able to tell due to lack of feedback. I checked "my posts" and it was not there. I tried to post again and got the message it's duplicate, so yay, my post went through, probably waiting for a moderator. (This is pretty frustrating for someone trying to contact people using the only way available, but I understand you might have had a spam problem.)

Then a few days have passed, nothing. Still not visible in my posts, no way to tell whether the moderator deleted it, rejected it, or have not even looked. I cannot tell by looking.

So I tried "a second" post (this one), and hoped that different moderators check different queues.
Turns out they aren't, since again nothing happened.

Since this forum is the contact method there seemed to be no way to ask the moderators (whoever they might have been).
Then another few days have passed and I choose a way I consider impolite and directly emailed someone at the project, so someone actually looked at the mod queue and let me in. I don't know how long it would have taken if I hadn't emailed up someone. :-(

Not complaining (I'm in now), just sharing a first time user experience.

Exactly.
We got fed with posts selling Viagra and Shoes.

This is the limit of free support : there is no commitment on delays for answers.
Sometimes you'll get answers in few hours, sommetime it will take several days, and it could be weeks.

If we don't have time to treat first post, we won't either to treat following.

That would'nt have changed anything.
In fact there is no relation as when you email us directly for support, we only reply to post in the forum ;) and team members dealing with both are not the same...

Not complaining (I'm in now), just sharing a first time user experience.

Maybe this could be instructive for other newcomes : if you don,'t get an answer, you don't have to post twice, this won't change anything.
Just wait until someone can deal with your post.
One again, this is the limit of free support for open source software : you pay nothing but cannot expect high level service.
We treat in priority support requests from clients who paid for professional support, so when number of requests is high on that side free support must wait a bit.

Just recognise the difference between posting a question which nobody answered (which is a normal and common case in open source projects) and not being able to even post a question because account is held indefinitely.

Since this forum is the "one and only" possibility to any feedback I would suggest that you at least communicate this in a clearly visible place:

"Fresh registrations need to be manually enabled, and this may take several weeks, please be patient. Your posts will be stored and will be published after your account is enabled: no need to post repeatedly."

The problem is not that it takes a long time but that it is not clear that it may take a long time, and it's not visible whether the registration is even accepted, or the posts are accepted, or not.
I think I have already seen - in the last few decades - a few community feedback systems, ranging from IRC through email to various web forums and clearly communicating for the new users what to expect is beneficial for the stress level of everyone.

That would'nt have changed anything.

Lucky for me that it have. :-)

Yes, please! Do communicate this in visible and obvious places. Would have saved us a lot of characters.

We treat in priority support requests from clients who paid for professional support, so when number of requests is high on that side free support must wait a bit.

That works well this way, no problems with that.

Though you may have noticed that I have reported a bug, and I do not expect a solution from you (I can simply scratch the test project), so basically I try to help you to fix problems for your paying customers. ;-)
And I do this free of charge (in fact, this is the way I "pay" for the system, with my time spent on debugging, or trying to help you fix the problem).
